The Pasadena Project is different from many nonprofits — we’re not membership-driven, which means you don’t have to pay dues or hold a title to have a voice. Instead, our commitment to seeking community feedback is unmatched. We believe the people of Pasadena deserve a direct say in the projects and decisions that shape our town.
Here’s how we make that happen:
Public Comment
At least once a quarter, our Board holds a public meeting where community members can speak directly to leadership. These sessions are announced 30 days in advance, with a published agenda so you know exactly what’s on the table. Speakers get 3 minutes each, and we ask that comments stay respectful and relevant (because no one wants a shouting match at the rec center).
Advisory Board of Community Liaisons
We also invite neighbors to apply as Community Liaisons — volunteers who serve one-year renewable terms. Liaisons act as ambassadors from Pasadena’s diverse neighborhoods, bringing fresh ideas, raising concerns, and making sure no voice is left out. While they don’t hold voting power, their feedback helps shape programs, events, grants, and even our policies.
Committees & Special Projects
Beyond formal roles, we often create committees or working groups for specific initiatives — whether it’s planning an event, spearheading a volunteer project, or untangling bylaws that haven’t been touched since 1992.
Bottom line: Joining a committee with TPP isn’t about titles or politics. It’s about rolling up your sleeves, sharing your voice, and helping us keep Pasadena strong, fair, and fun.
